Photo Journal: January 2025

A Brief Introduction to this thing
I’m anticipating this to be one of the most important years of my life & I’ve been thinking about that for a while now.
In recent years I’ve slightly fallen out of love with photography on a personal level, but have found more enjoyment in other things. My logic is that I’ve made it “work”, and it ultimately is. Lugging around multiple lenses, a big bulky camera bag & sitting down to edit after working all day has felt extremely cumbersome & uninspiring. I hate to admit that there has been little desire to shoot photos unless it’s directly attributed to earning a living.
A little over a year ago I stumbled across a group on Facebook called, “Fujifilm X100VI Community”, and joined it after initially being blown away by some of the travel photography the members were posting. At that point I was totally and completely out of touch with the photography community and knew nothing about the Fuji X100 series cameras, but quickly learned. The Fujifilm X100VI is the perfect balance of technology in present day digital cameras with the color reproduction capabilities and settings to mimic the nostalgia of the 90’s film disposables my childhood memories were captured on. All packaged up into a one-pound, fixed lens, mirrorless, point & shoot camera that allows you to apply the “presets” or film recipes in-camera as you shoot - completely dissolving the need for post processing (if you so choose).
Long story short, I spent about seven months planning / actively trying to purchase one, until I finally got lucky and scored via Facebook marketplace.
I am challenging myself to shoot more photos for me this year. Nothing overdone or fancy, just to focus on highlighting the raw, fleeting moments - which after all, they are. And now brought to this platform to both share and hold myself accountable for monthly offloads of the sights & scenarios - no matter how exciting or mundane.
Anyways, this was January…
