Photo Journal: Maine 2025 (SB6)

Six years of our annual excursion North.

I have a deep love for coastal Maine, in particular Acadia National Park and the general area of Mount Desert Island. Six years ago I finally decided to load up the car with a couple of friends and head up there for a the weekend. I’ve been back every year since.

So for six years I’ve looked forward to late October, or sometimes early November - whichever weekend we booked. And the closer it gets to the day of our planned departure, I can feel an electricity in the air from the anticipation. This trip serves as a big reset and it was planned this way since year one.

Coming off of the high of the Summer and into the Fall, we use it as a nightcap to digest the two seasons and prepare for the craze of the Holidays and the sleepy quiet Winter months that follow. We all eat some good food, drink some good beer, sit around a fire at the edge of the ocean and welcome the early morning sunrise that crests over the mountains across the bay. Absolutely surreal – so much so that we’ve not deviated from this exact format in the last four years (out of the six).

The main difference from this year to the last for me was in the acquisition of the Fuji x100vi. In 2024 I reluctantly opted to use my iPhone to document the trip and it was as underwhelming as one could imagine (from the standpoint of someone who considers themselves somewhat of a professional photographer). Needless to say, the contrast is apparent and I was much happier to offload the set of photos below. Thanks for looking.
